'Fro Manifesto

Kinky Afro; a variation on an ancient theme. Beats, breaks and rhythms. Nothing new there. It's just the way you put it together which makes things special.

At Kinky Afro all we aim to do is reinterpret the driving factor of rhythms in a fresh and intriguing way.

We aim to bring musicians and people of a discerning ear to our city who may be unfamiliar to the majority.

We aim to educate past the mainstream of big name acts and DJs.

We endeavor to expose those who inspire us and install them in the forefront of your minds at least for a few hours. We hope that you may not have heard of them but trust us to let you dance.

We think it's better to think outside of the DJ box; bringing live acts and collectives of vigour; which will impress on your mind alternative rhythms and new musical forms.

We want to know. We demand that you listen and judge with your own ears and feet. We ask that you inform us of your views and needs.

Music is constantly moving and we want you to dance in partnership with us - shouting about every step we take.
